Why AI Connections Are Different
AI networking has a characteristic that distinguishes it from other sectors: the field is simultaneously very small at the top and very large at the base. There may be 2,000–3,000 researchers who genuinely define the state of the art globally. At the same time, there are millions of developers and business professionals building upon these foundations. The connection strategy needs to be different at each level.
The good news: the AI ecosystem is notably open for such a competitive field. The culture of publishing on arXiv, sharing code on GitHub, and open discussion on Twitter/X has created direct access channels to researchers who would otherwise be inaccessible in finance or medicine. São Paulo has an AI ecosystem in acceleration phase, not maturity.
